Through its management Envirodrill has a history of 25 years drilling for coal in the United Kingdom and overseas.
Envirodrill’s team managed long term drilling contractors for British Coal Opencast, principally in Regions Central West, Central North and Northern and more recently has undertaken opencast coal exploration projects for UK Coal Mining Ltd and Scottish Coal Mining Limited in various part of the UK.
During its long involvement with drilling for Opencast Coal, our engineers played a prominent role in developing what became a highly efficient drilling service, including particularly, the introduction of the now widely used tractor mounted rigs to replace the original heavy truck units.
Prior to the era of colliery closures our drill teams also undertook some 50% of British Coals' Intermediate drilling to depths of 750 metres.
In a related field, our crews also carried out all of the exploratory drilling for lignite in Northern Ireland, initially for The Department Of Economic Development and later for B P Coal Ltd and Meekatharra Minerals Ltd.
Overseas Envirodrill applied its expertise gained in the UK to successfully complete projects in Spain for CIDSA and BHP and in The Peoples Democratic Republic Of China for Shell Coal International Ltd.
Coal Developments
Working closely with its clients Envirodrill is in the processing of developing a new track mounted opencast coal drilling rig, designed to work on very soft ground including peat, this drill will have an inboard compressor, equipment storage facility and include latest health and safety provisions requirements built in to advance it to the forefront of coal drilling and and to work on the for currently investing in new plant and equipment to take advantage of high current demand for exploration and is developing its own track mounted core drill for wireline and conventional core drilling, this machine will also be capable of large diameter coring for bulk sampling of diamond deposits.
